Secure Covers for Drip Pans in Power Plants and Substations

Graepel fire-resistant gratings are the safe solution for covering transformer drip pans. The fire-rated surface structure combines high drainage capacity with a flame-retardant effect.

In the event of an emergency, fire-resistant gratings perform two key functions:

  • Rapid drainage of transformer oil into the containment pan
  • Flame-retardant effect through targeted reduction of oxygen supply

The specially tested, perforated surface structure allows only a minimal flow of oxygen to the source of the fire. This results in an extremely oxygen-deprived fire, while escaping oil can simultaneously drain unimpeded and quickly.

Applications

  • Substations
  • Offshore and onshore oil and natural gas production

Benefits & Features

  • High flame retardancy in the event of a transformer failure
  • Excellent drainage due to the surface structure
  • Grate is very well suited for oil drainage
  • Open surface area is so small that a smoldering fire occurs
  • Short installation and removal times
  • High passive safety for maintenance personnel
  • Adaptable to load requirements
  • Integrated grounding tabs
  • Integrated access openings

Technical Design and Engineering

Graepel manufactures fire-resistant gratings as ready-to-install grating panels or as individual panels. This enables quick installation and maintenance. Graepel provides support right from the planning stage and creates project-specific installation plans. The gratings can be adapted to different load requirements and designed to suit the specific substructure.

Graepel offers two certified embossed patterns:
